First online update

9/8/08

Dear Parents of Room 14,
Welcome to our first online update! This update is like a weekly newsletter in that I will include reminders, important dates, and some information about our topics of study. I will also provide you with several questions you can ask your child regarding our units/topics of study.
Here are a few important reminders:
  • Planners- Please continue to view and sign these each evening. Due to time constraints, sometimes we do not complete everything listed in the planner. I appreciate your patience with this as we continue to work out the bugs in our schedule.
  • Contracts- Your child should bring their contract folder home on Tuesdays and work on them for 20-30 minutes. All work, finished or unfinished, should be sent into school on Wednesday. Contracts are due on October 8!
  • PE- Please don't forget to wear appropriate shoes for PE on Tuesdays!
  • Morning Snacks- Due to peanut allergies in our class, please make sure your child is packing a peanut-free snack for our morning break!
  • Graded paper folders- These folders come home on Wednesdays and need to be signed and returned the next day.
  • Conduct Folders- Come home on Fridays and must be signed and returned the next school day.

Mark your calendars:

  • Tues. 9/23-9/26- Early Release for conferences
  • October 8- Contracts due

A Peek at our Week: Here are a few topics we will be covering in each subject this week:

  • Tell me about Hour of the Olympics.
  • Tell me 3 different spelling patterns for long 0.
  • What is history?
  • What does ancient mean?
  • Did you get Fun Friday? Why or why not?

Have a great week! Please call or email if you have any questions.
